Local Institution Hosts the Austin, TX Chapter

Submitted by Jennifer Randall, DAADOM, Chapter President
The Austin chapter of AADOM enjoyed our last Happy Hour before AADOM22 Conference at The Tavern. The majority of our members that are attending the Conference came to meet and pick up the Austin Chapter shirt, discuss what to expect at the conference and get excited about attending!
The Tavern is an Austin institution, established in 1916 as a grocery store, a large and modern (for its time) storefront. Architect Hug Kuehne modeled the building after architecture made popular by German public houses of the time. During prohibition, it is rumored that the establishment became a storefront for a bustling upstairs bar, casino, and brothel. After prohibition ended The Tavern as we know it today, was born.
